- other information relevant to user surveys and/or offers
What We Do With The Information We Gather
We require this information to understand your needs and provide you with a better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
- Internal record keeping.
- We may use the information to improve our products and services.
- We may periodically send promotional email about new products, special offers or other information which we think you may find interesting using the email address which you have provided.
- From time to time, we may also use your information to contact you for market research purposes. We may contact you by email, phone, fax or mail.

Controlling Your Personal Information
We will not sell, distribute or lease your personal information to third parties. We will not release your personal information to third parties unless required by law to do so.
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Virgin Media), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site. We only use this information for statistical analysis purposes and then the data is removed from the system.
Cookies and Web Beacons
We also use third party advertisements to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP, the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).
You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this may affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.
Links to Other Websites
Our website may contain links to enable you to visit other websites of interest easily. However, once you have used these links to leave our site, you should note that we do not have any control over that other website. Therefore, we cannot be responsible for the protection and privacy of any information which you provide whilst visiting such sites and such sites are not governed by this privacy statement. You should exercise caution and look at the privacy statement applicable to the website in question.
By subscribing to a STIR! mailing list or newsletter you agree to STIR! sending you occasional email alerts providing information about new additions to the website, other relevant developments and products news. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Email a Friend
We may from time to time operate an ‘Email a friend’ service. This is a referral service, designed to make it easy for users to recommend our website or offers to a friend. This is a two-step process. First, a user sends us the friend's name and email address and, second, we contact the friend, telling them who we are, and inviting them to take advantage of a particular offer, or to visit our website. When we contact your friend, we always advise them of the name and email address of the friend who made the original referral. We will not use your friend’s details for any other purpose.
When a user wishes to sponsor a friend and provides us with his/her name and email address, we reasonably assume that such user has obtained his/her friend's prior consent in order for us to process his/her data. Users supply such information freely and voluntarily, under their sole responsibility.
Please remember that any information that is disclosed in a discussion forum becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose your personal information.
